Face, Watercolor – 2017
Quick and unexpected
We knew it would come.
I thought it would be harder
But it wasn’t as hard as Pre-Cal.
I thought I would at least cry
But my eyes were as dry as the Sahara.
I don’t remember much about her
Only the nursing home we visited her in.
My sister read the Eulogy
She cried like a girl after her first heartbreak.
I should have cried.
I got choked up
But no tears would come
It was like the Texas heat burned them from my eyes.
